FIB 101: Inroduction to FIB
- Description
- This course is designed for people who are interested in a general
overview of the FIB technologies, but do not need extensive hands-on
experience. It will familiarize students with the theory and design of
FIB systems and discuss all major applications of FIB technologies,
including LMIS theory, ion optics, ion column theory, image acquisition,
deposition and milling theory, general FIB operations, and etc.
- Prerequisites
- No prior knowledge of focused ion systems is required. Students
should be somewhat familiar with the fundamentals of compute usage,
basic UNIX, and basic silicon design terminologies and
technologies.
- Goals
- Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Describe the basic function theory behind FIB operations;
- Describe the major applications of FIB systems in the electronic
industry;
- Understand the limitation of FIB systems;
- Operate FIB tools to perform general milling and deposition
functions.
- Duration
- 2 days (70% lecture, 30% lab)
